Frequently asked questions

Before your purchase

Can I sync a digital planner across multiple devices?

Yes. You can import your digital planner to your iPad, iPhone, and Mac, and see any changes you make on one device reflected on the others if you enable iCloud syncing in the annotation app.

For non-Apple operating systems, I recommend checking the FAQs for the annotation app you use to see if it offers this feature.

Are digital planners compatible with e-ink devices such as Remarkable or Kobo?

Unfortunately, these digital planners aren't compatible with Kobo devices at this time. However, if you have a Remarkable tablet, you can use it. But keep in mind that since they aren't designed specifically for these devices, I recommend that you contact me before purchasing so I can send you a sample file, and you can decide for yourself if you like how a digital planner looks on this device.

What do I need to use a digital planner?

To use one of the BY INMA planners you will only need an iPad, a tablet or a computer and a note-taking app that supports hyperlinked PDFs and allows you to write over them. In addition, if you want to enjoy the best experience as if you were writing on paper it is recommended to use an Apple Pencil or stylus if you use an iPad or tablet. Some people also like to use them with a keyboard for their iPad.

If you are new to the world of digital planning I recommend you to visit this page where I explain in detail everything you need to know before you start.

Can I use a digital planner on a computer, iPhone, or Android device?

Yes, you just need a note-taking app that supports hyperlinked PDFs and allows you to write on them (like Goodnotes, Noteful, Samsung Notes, etc.). However, you'll get the best experience by using them on an iPad or tablet with a stylus. On a smartphone, I recommend using them only for quick lookups and very brief or fast notes, since the writing experience on such small devices may not be comfortable.

✉ If you want to test the planner before making the purchase, to see how it works with the app you are going to use, write me a message.

Can you use a digital planner on an iPad Mini?

Of course, as long as your iPad version allows you to install a notes app like Goodnotes (or another one you prefer), you can use your planner on any iPad model. However, the Mini version may be a bit small for some people so if you are not sure you can write to me and I will send you a sample file so you can try it before you buy and decide if the size at which the text will be displayed suits your needs or not.

Are these planners compatible with OneNote or Evernote?

No, these planners are not compatible with any of these apps.

Does these digital planners sync with Google Calendar or iCal?

No, at this time, no note-taking app offers this feature. However, many of the BY INMA planners include a shortcut to these calendars via an Apple Shortcut. Keep in mind, though, that this is just a shortcut and won’t sync what you write in the planner with your calendar or vice versa.

Are these digital planners editable?

They are not editable PDF files so it doesn't have fillable form fields but you have to add the text manually as if you were writing in a paper planner. You can also add text through text boxes that are usually built into most note applications.

How do you open ZIP files in your device?

Open a ZIP file on an iPad with a version of iOS 11 or later.

  1. Open the Files app, then find the ZIP file or archive from which you want to extract.
  2. Tap the ZIP file or archive.
  3. A folder is created containing the files. To change its name, touch and hold on the folder, then tap Rename.

If you have an older model you will probably need an external application to decompress these files. In this case, don’t try to download and open your ZIP files onto a smartphone or a tablet, please, use your computer.

Open a ZIP file on a computer

Just double-click on it. With some types of computers, you may need specific software to open it. There's lots of free zip software, you can try iZip for Mac or the free version of WinRAR for PC.

If you have problems to open ZIP files in Windows

Some versions of Windows may cause errors when unzipping ZIP files occasionally. If this happens to you, try one of these things:

  1. Rename the file and then try to extract its content.
  2. Maybe the file location is protected so move the file and then try again. You can move the Zip file to one of your user profile folders, such as Documents, and then try to extract the files.
  3. Re-download the files again to see if it was a problem downloading them that was not downloaded correctly. Sometimes Chrome gives problems with Etsy downloads. Try to download it using another browser to see if it can be related to this.
  4. If all else fails, use a free third-party file compression software and use it to extract the contents of the zip file.

How do you use digital stickers?

Digital stickers can come in two formats depending on the item you purchase:

- Individual PNG files: all stickers in my store always come in this format and you can use them with most note apps. They come compressed in a ZIP file that you need to unzip first.
- GOODNOTES format with the stickers already inserted in this app: some stickers in my store include in addition to PNG files this type of file for the users of this app.

How to use them:

Using PNG files

  1. Download the zip file on your iPad, it will be downloaded to the Downloads folder but you can change it later to wherever you prefer.
  2. Unzip the ZIP file:
    1. Open the Files app, then find the ZIP file or archive from which you want to extract.
    2. Tap the ZIP file or archive.
    3. A folder is created containing the files. To change its name, touch and hold on to the folder, then tap Rename.
  3. To place the stickers, open the note app and the planner or notebook you want to place the stickers on, slide your finger up and drag the iPad Files application to one side to use Split View and see two windows on your iPad.
  4. Open the folder where you have the PNG stickers.
  5. Tap and hold the desired sticker image and drag it over to your planner page.

Make sure you're using iOS 11 or later to open ZIP files. If you have an older model you will probably need an external application to decompress these files. In this case, don’t try to download and open your ZIP files onto a smartphone or a tablet, please, use your computer. For this, just double-click on it. With some types of computers, you may need specific software to open them. There's lots of free zip software, you can try iZip for Mac or the free version of WinRAR for PC.

Using a sticker sheet or book in GOODNOTES format

Remember that this file can only be used with Goodnotes, it does not work with other note apps. To use it follow these steps:

  1. Download the GOODNOTES file. Remember that you should not unzip it but download it and open it directly on Goodnotes. If Google Drive shows you the content of that file as if it was a folder, just ignore it and click on the download button that appears on the top right.
  2. The sticker book/sheet will be downloaded to the Downloads folder but you can change it later to wherever you prefer.
  3. Click on the “share” button on the top right side of the screen.
  4. Select “Open in Goodnotes”
  5. Once you have it in Goodnotes you can simply copy the stickers you want and paste them into your planner or notebook, to do this:
    1. Select the Lasso Tool.
    2. Draw a rough selection around your sticker of choice. Tap again on your selection and choose “Copy”.
    3. Go to the page in the planner where you want to place the sticker. Tap and hold on to the screen and select “Paste”.
You can also use Split View as before, only this time you have to open two windows with Goodnotes, in one you open the sticker book, and in the other the planner or notebook. To copy the stickers, select the one you want with the lasso tool, click, hold and drag

Can you print a digital planner?

Yes, you can print them. What you have to keep in mind is that what you will see is the design as is, with the side tabs included as all that they are included in the design itself. In addition, the size of the majority of the planners doesn't have the proportions of an A4 or a letter as is, since it is designed for use on tablets and especially on iPads. That is, when you print on an A4 or a letter, you will have to adjust the size in the printer and there will be some small margins on the sides.
